Driving Impact Through Collaboration: RMI Launches 2024 Annual Report

The Responsible Mica Initiative (RMI) is proud to announce the release of its 2024 Annual Report—an in-depth look at the collective progress made toward responsible, fair, and sustainable mica supply chains.

This year’s report highlights significant milestones achieved through collaboration with our members and partners across industries, civil society, local communities and different governments. From strengthening due diligence practices to expanding community empowerment programs, RMI has continued to drive systemic change while remaining grounded in transparency and accountability.

Key achievements in 2024 include:

  • The development and the launch of the Mica CRAFT Code, a comprehensive standard that defines responsible mica production in artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM).
  • The signature of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ASM communities in Madagascar, pivotal agreements in enhancing mica-mining community participation in RMI, and providing them the necessary support to improve their working conditions and livelihoods.
  • The continuation of RMI’s Community Empowerment Programs in India, which positive impacts have been assessed by an external agency, while laying all the groundwork to launch similar programs in Madagascar in 2025.
  • A 870k€ grant awarded by the EU to fund our programs in India over the next 3 years.
  • Enhanced traceability thanks to members continued commitments and efforts towards transparency.
  • The launch of social risk assessments in 3 new mica sourcing countries.

The Annual Report also provides insight into RMI’s revised strategy for 2030 and 2025 plans, emphasizing the importance of inclusive growth, robust monitoring, and systemic policy change.

We invite all stakeholders to explore the report and join us in continuing this vital journey !
