OUR STANDARDS / WORKPLACE STANDARD FOR MINES
The Global Workplace and Due Diligence Standard for Small to Medium Semi-Mechanized Mica Mines provides purpose–built guidance for Small to Mid-scale Mica Mining Operations to foster safe, fair, and environmentally responsible mining practices.
The Global Workplace Standard for Small & Semi-Mechanized Mica Mines provides purpose–built guidance for Small to Mid-scale Mica Mining Operations to foster safe, fair, and environmentally responsible mining practices.
Developed in 2025, the standard addresses the unique operational characteristics and challenges of small to medium semi-mechanized mica mines. It aims to provide:
- Proportionate ESG Frameworks: Environmental, social, and governance criteria tailored to the operational scale and capacity of semi-mechanized operations, ensuring requirements are both comprehensive and achievable.
- Adapted Due Diligence Procedures: OECD due diligence requirements specifically modified for upstream operations, including provisions for mines that source materials from external suppliers.
- Comprehensive Scope: Workplace safety protocols, environmental management requirements, social impact procedures, and supply chain transparency measures.
- Practical Implementation: Auditable requirements and guidelines that reflect the operational realities and constraints of small to mid-scale mining operations while driving meaningful improvements.
The breadth of the standard draws on other widely recognized voluntary standards and guidance principles to support continuous improvement and responsible sourcing practices across the mica value chain.
